Attn: Greek Students for LAN 211 in fall
From: Prof. Jintae Kim
Re: Preparation
Greetings from Manhattan!
As you
are aware, I am going to be your teacher for LAN 211
Intermediate Greek I in fall, 2003, and I would like to encourage all of
you to
be prepared for having privilege of reading the Gospel of
John in Greek, for
which you will need to do some work during this summer. As
you see the syllabi
on this website, I assume that all of my students would have
mastered a minimum
requirement as follows:
1.
Vocabulary – words occurring 49 times or more in the NT
2.
Forms
Definite article;
Relative, Personal, Demonstrative, and Interrogative Pronouns;
common verb forms (Indicative, Imperative, Infinitive, and
participle)
3.
Verb Parsing
You
should be able to identify Dictionary form, Tense, Mood, Voice, and meaning of
verb, and person and number of its pronominal subject of its subject (plus
case, gender, and number for participle).
4.
Noun/Pronoun Parsing
You
should be able to identity Dictionary form, Case, Gender, Number, Function
in the sentence, and meaning of noun and pronoun.
Those who are not ready yet must use
their summer time wisely so that
they may be ready by the first class in fall, 2003. Those
students who show up
at the class without preparation will face serious
difficulty catching up with
the rest of class.
In Christ,
